Received brochure because of PSAT score?

Today, I received a brochure from College Board in the mail. The cover says “Congratulations on your great performance on the PSAT, _________” with my name in the blank space.

My score was in the 99th percentile nationally. However, I already completely gave up on NMSF because my score is 2-4 points lower than what it will likely be for my state this year and 2 points lower than my state’s cutoff last year.

Getting this brochure thus confuses me. Is it indicative at all that I might actually have a chance at NMSF? Or do they just send it out to everyone in the 99th percentile regardless of whether the score is enough in their specific state?

What did the broucher say other than congratulations?

My brochure is the same as this one except that mine had my name and a different starter college list

@cityonanocean I don’t think this has any connection to National Merit. I think this was generated because you have generally good scores. Did you get the “We Want Your Brains” flyer from TAMU? I think that one was just sent out to possible NMSF.

@3scoutsmom

No, I haven’t received that flyer. That’s interesting, thanks for sharing your insight!

wow… did you see those net cost estimates

@mom2collegekids

I could not help but stare at the estimated net prices for awhile either. Wow.
