Received confirmation though app is not submitted?

I got an email from Dartmouth last week saying that they received my RD app. Here's the email in it's entirety:

"
Dear LOL,

Thank you for your Regular Decision application for Dartmouth's Class of 2013. Please review your current address information above and email us if it is not correct.

We are presently processing the materials we have received from you. Given the large volume of application materials that are currently being delivered to our office, we are unable to check on the receipt of individual forms at this time.

Between now and mid-December our priority will be the processing of our Early Decision applicants’ materials. In late December we will focus our efforts on our Regular Decision applicants' materials. As soon as we are able to, we will record the receipt of your individual forms and post a status update on this page. It is important to note that this update may not be forthcoming until mid-December or later.

We appreciate your interest in Dartmouth and your patience. We look forward to reviewing your application.

Sincerely,

Problem is that I haven't submitted my RD app. I've only submitted my pre-app, and my friend may have submitted his peer rec. Um, this is sort of awkward. Has anybody else gotten this email and is in the same situation as I am? Maybe this is just an error in wording on their part.

i also got the same email. i think they're just assuming that since you submitted the pre-app, the rest of your app will come in.

They don't say they have your full app. They say they have "materials," so it's probably just your pre-app.

I got the same message (only for ED) when I submitted my pre-app. All it means is that they now have a file going about your application, whether or not you have submitted everythign yet.

It's just the pre-app. Son got the same email for ED and thought he had accidently hit submit or something on the common app - mostly because he had sent in the pre-app back in August! In any event.. don't delete the email because you will need that password and ID to check decisions. Check back in Jan to make sure youre nit missing anything.

That's what I suspected but I wanted to make sure :) Thanks all for your responses!
