I don’t want to read into this in any way, so I am hoping someone else has had experience here… I am a California CC student who applied for Fall 2018 transfer. I know that they do not need your transcripts until you are admitted and that you self report all your grades on your application. However, I received an email from the UC admissions portal requesting me to send a copy of my transcripts within 7 days and that an unofficial copy was okay. I do have a 4.0 so I am not sure the exact circumstances of why they would request information like this, as I mentioned above transcripts are “typically” only needed once you are admitted.
So, what’s the deal? I was hoping it was for scholarship consideration, but they didn’t even request all my transcripts from every school I have attended (3). They only requested one! Any thoughts???
I had a 4.0 and was asked when I applied a few years back. I later got a regents offer from Merced so I think that might be verifying the GPA for possible scholarship. Anyway, I ended up at Cal, no scholarship. Don’t worry about it.
Same here. No email also. I wouldn’t trip on it tho. I believe you have to be under a certain income to review those scholarship emails, unless its the regents. And for transfer students idk if they sent the regents offer before decision day, I know they do for high schoolers tho
I will say I really have no clear idea why they asked for mine. I was only at one CCC, and others with 4.0 did not get asked. Also I noticed later that someone who got a regents was never asked for an unofficial. All I know is I wasn’t worried about it.
Is it possible that it was part of a random audit? I know they said they did it in early January, but perhaps they were going to do another one and I just never heard about it.
Yeah if anything I feel like now is a good time to do auditing, since our deadline to submit the TAU was 1/31. Also the OP might’ve reported his grades/other information in a way that raised a red flag, prompting them to verify it. Just purely speculation tho. Either way if he reported everything honestly he has absolutely nothing to trip about.
On another note, makes me a bit nervous that they could be looking at my application right now, at this second lol.
Personally, I still think it’s related to being considered for a scholarship. I know I did not have one red flag. High school direct to one CCC. Applied after one year, standard units per semester, Communications major (not engr or bio or CS or a major that might tax a person). Anyway, all things being equal, 4.0s usually always get in.
The only interesting thing with OP is he has three transcripts and they only asked for one. But it might be the one with the heavy hitters on it.
There are no “red flags” in my opinion on my application. I have a solid 4.0 and have taken a strong course load of honors classes so my thought is possibly scholarship consideration.
