hey everyone. So I checked my status and it says “Thank you for submitting your application materials; your application is complete. Please consult our Deadlines page at admissions.indiana.edu/apply/deadlines.html to see when you should receive a response.”
@Smc422 that seems to be the big question. Answer is really “It Depends”. I’ve heard that it can take 3-5 weeks but some people seem to be hearing in a matter of days and others seem to be taking around 4 weeks. Good Luck. My D received her acceptance via the portal and then the next day is when she got an e-mail saying she was accepted. Not sure if it was due to time of day since her portal status was changed sometime between 5pm and 8pm. I only know this because she checked when I got home from work and it was still under review and then she checked again a few hours later and had the acceptance.
I sent in my application in early September via the common app. I know a few people with similar grades that applied later via the common app also and they were just accepted. But I’m still waiting…
@luvmydog123 my D applied 8/2, her HS sent transcripts on 8/29, she didn’t get an e-mail until 9/26 indicating everything was received and it was under review. She was notified via the portal on 10/11 that she was accepted. We just got her IUsaidYes envelope today. Her friend had identical dates. We had others at her HS get accepted before her with lower stats than she has.
My son applied 9/20, transcript was sent on 9/27 and he was just admitted via email tonight. We are OOS (NJ). He is very excited. This was his second acceptance but one of his top schools. we are booking flights for Nov. Good luck to all other applicants
Congratulations @dcolosi and @wowed777 on the acceptances! When I log onto my portal to check my status there is a student center link which brings up my personal information as well as some other links to financial aid and class schedule (blank). I’m hoping this is a good sign but my status has been this way for about two weeks now and still no word.
@luvmydog123 there should be a link to check application status. The page you are referencing was the default when my D got her log in as well. If you click on the check my application status that should tell you the status of your application. That is where my D found out her status and when she was accepted.
At the top of the page go to Self Service, then click on Student Admissions then Application Status. That should take you to a new screen with the current status of the application.
Does anyone know when IU sends merit scholarship notification? Does it come with acceptance letter or separately? My S was accepted last week on the portal and hasn’t received letter yet.
Way later than 1st of the year. The SSA is due Nov 1st, and by the time all SSA applications go in the cauldron and stirred, it takes a while for merit to flow.
Also notice the merit does not come out in a big envelope or check. DD2 received a number of merit scholarships and those were coming in at random times around late January / early February for the automatic instate I think, all the way to April with some of the smaller awards.
This was the case not only for college of Arts and Sciences, but for some of the Kelley kids that she knows that got Kelley specific merit aid. Maybe Kelley was a couple weeks earlier. There’s also some of the Hudson & Holland (?) that run at different schedules as well.
@turbo93 The SSA is not due 11/1. That’s the SSA eligibility date, i.e., date by which you must submit application for admission to be considered for receiving SSA app.
Agree, the SSA date for submitting the application and Essay’s is 12/16 and the LOR’s are due in January. In order to be eligible for SSA’s you have to have your application to the University in by Nov. 1 to be considered for SSA’s. My D was accepted and has an invite for the SSA so the dates are what I was provided on the letter.
@Rebels23 I didn’t submit my SSA yet but i wish i didn’t send one of my letters of rec for admissions. There was absolute no point because it was almost automatic for me to get in. I planned on asking the same teacher but I think I’ll use the same letter from admissions.
