Recieved Merit Awards and Merit Questions

I like having these threads around. It think it gives a nice idea of the timeline to students going for merit awards, both for this year and as a record for students for later years. Especially since the different colleges at UIUC have different notification dates.

Pretty much what it says in the title: post questions relating to merit awards (timeline, requirements, selection etc.) or what you've received.

jkordas received merit money from ACES
Rolando4 received merit from the College of Media and (possibly?) a different scholarship from elsewhere

I received a University Achievement Scholarship (available to OOS students) today. Mailed on Jan 10.

I know the UIUC forum doesn't tend to be very active, but I guess this thread will get used if there's interest.

For what it’s worth, today received the university achievement scholarship, as wellas 7500/year from engineering. Not really sure how to make up the difference, though.

I received the University Achievement Scholarship (12,000/yr), Engineering Excellence Scholarship (7500/yr), and an ECE $10000 freshman year only scholarship. Not really considering UIUC but nice to have if my other schools don’t work out.

Aw lol guess I’m not good enough for a scholarship. Anyone get a business scholarship yet?

Sent from my XT897 using CC

@SAT200 Congratulations. Did you receive scholarship offer by mail? My son has received admission for Bioengineering, but as of today, has not heard any word about scholarship from UIUC.

^ All of you applied for priority admission right??

In that case it takes a month to get notified about merit awards?? Isn’t that tooo long?

Regular Applicant here!!
Thanks

Think of all the applicants they have to go through. A month turnaround sounds rather short. I would expect longer, actually. They have had the Priority Applicant’s applications since (at least) pre-November, leaving them over two months from that point until scholarships went out.

Using the search feature, you can probably look around through some scholarship threads from last year to find when past RD applicants found out. You can also call the office and ask for a timeline.

Keep in mind the University-wide and each of the Departmental scholarships have different screening processes and notification dates.

This was two years ago, but I received my Provost Scholarship mid-January.

In regards to Business scholarships, they are generally not released until mid-March. A big chunk of the scholarships go to the Business Honors students (at $5000/year).

I applied priority and received an ACES scholarship at the beginning of July

D accepted RD into music program, OOS, received University Achievement award, $12,000/yr. today by post mail dated 3/5 from admissions office. Does not show online and no fin aid letter or music dept money yet.
