waking up the upperclassmen with yelling in the morning is not going to help you get recognized

didn't do it... i was at practice. but i heard not many people were pleased.

just as i suspected... i thought they announced grilled cheese, change that to grilled chicken...
yay!
...

ant-ica-paaaaaa-tion. its making me wait. its keeping me waaa-a-a-i-ting. :D

C'mon Is2day. Get your grilled foods correct. You gave me a mini stroke. LOL I rubbed my crystal ball today & I see a great deal of mud in your future. Now go make up some do not disturb signs with "recognize the c/o 2010" & put on all the upperclass doors. And then be very very quiet before ya'll get killed.

tell that to rtoa

keep dreaming, it wont be at least for another 2 months

Rumor on campus was that Recognition would have happend maybe next week, but after the shower debacle this week.. could be at least two more months... and many more motivational runs...

..like a bad groundhog day.

grimace Who did what & tell me that it was NOT 3rd co or that Spellman was involved?

Newbie here....what is recognition?

jamz, both were involved...

Suzannegra,

"To become 4th Classmen, the class as a whole must prove to the first classmen that they are united as a class in Spirit, Knowledge, and Pride in the school. This is usually accomplished not only through the daily duties but also by accomplishing a list of "Steps to Recognition" set by the Regimental Training Officer. When the First Class believes the class as a whole is ready, they are accepted into the Regiment of Midshipmen by the upperclassmen and "recognized" as fourth classmen."

To quote one of the staff officers: "the class of 2011 has probably been the best classes that USMMA has ever had and should be recognized very soon"... of course the Regimental officers have a big say in when.

Typically, most classes get recognized in mid to late Spring, so to achieve Recognition earlier than that would be a great accomplishment for any class.

Is2day - Dang it all. How did I guess. LFWBDad please stay asleep.....

Suzanne - MMA gives you the official version. That said, its really where they get thrown into the mud, call home for $$ because they lost a shoe in the mud, do a few little push-ups, & get their cell phones back & call out for pizza with the $$ you gave them for lost shoe. :D I'm kidding. Its a big deal. They have to work very hard to obtain the recognition by completing several steps. The have to pass several Plebe Knowledge Tests (PKT) all together as a group. Its not easy.

I wondered if you've ever seen the Parent's Guide. In case you haven't, it would be a good read for you & son before you go visit. Its at:
http://www.usmma.edu/parents/
Look to the far left in the blue area and its a pdf file.

Wonder if Spellman and his YOUTUBE video pals have somebody ready to film the event ..if and when it ever happens..

Thank you all for answering my "newbie" questions. I've been to the Parent Page, but did not look at the Guide yet. Will do that tonight.

Suzannegra, heres some "mud" photos to look at to get an idea of recognition. There are many links to other photos to check out on this page. Click the underlined words to see some of Indoc as well.

grilled cheese on the menu tomorrow... recognition?

i think not.

so yeah, we just took PKT #10 for the first time... hmmm... closer than we think? perhaps.

keep on wishing :)

Best of luck though

Big rumblings that recognition is tomorrow? Anyone else heard anything?
