Recommendation issue?

I honestly don't know what to do. For my EC recommendation for Exeter, I had asked my a advisor to write it in mid December. He still hasn't. I am honestly sick of having to remind him and I don't know what to do. This is probably going to garner me an immediate rejection from PEA and I think it's too late to ask any of my other EC advisors to write me one. Please help me.

Is there someone else who could help out? Like is there a guidance counselor/asst principal/favorite teacher
you could say “I asked Mr. X to write my EC recommendation for Exeter, but he hasn’t yet. I have or course addressed this with him directly and have reminded him Y times, but that doesn’t seem to be working. Do you have any other ideas on how to approach this?”

Can u complain to the teacher’s superior, i.e. principal about the lack of professionalism? Make sure that superior ensures that the teacher does not retaliate against u by writing a bad rec.

First, relax and take a deep breath. I had a similar situation with an English rec, and this predicament can be very stressful if you allow it to.

Now, call the school and explain why it’s late. Some big name schools, like Exeter, are still sorting everything out. Therefore, they probably won’t mind if you got everything you could control in. Also, they can see when you notified the teacher, so that will show that you are responsible.

Next, have your parent talk to the teacher. This may seem childish, but having an adult exert authority can light a fire underneath a teacher. Most teachers would prefer to avoid problems with teachers.

Trust me, I know how you feel. I did exactly what I advised above and my rec was submitted yesterday. Make sure to keep the school in the loop on what is happening, so they know you are trying to solve the problem.

It wouldn’t hurt to let him know (respectfully) that his is the ONLY piece of paper not turned in yet.

Hotchkiss told me, on their January 8th deadline, that I should get everything turned in by a month. If Exeter is 15th deadline, maybe Feb. 15? But seriously, ask. And good luck.
