Should I send a reminder? (Yet another rec thread)

I'm applying to Exeter and there is no sign of my teachers having started my recs... On the Exeter website it just says "not started/not started/in progress" (my EC rec is at least in progress). They did all my recs for the other schools, but I only decided I was going to apply to Exeter in December, after I had already handed in my other ones. I thought it would be easier for them to send in the Exeter rec electronically, however, I was unable to send the request until 12/22, because I hadn't been able to contact the person I wanted to right my EC rec to ask them (I didn't want to just foist it on them without asking). After christmas break, I changed schools, so I haven't seen my teachers since... I'm worried that they won't write me a rec because I changed schools. The person who's writing my EC rec has at least started it, but my english and math teachers have had 3 weeks to get started and haven't. Asking my new teachers isn't an option- I've only been attending my new school for 2 weeks and my new english teacher hasn't even seen a sample of my writing yet.

I liked my old teachers a lot and I never had a problem with them, so I don't know why this is happening. Should I send a reminder now, since today is the due date, or would that seem too nag-ish?? Exeter is becoming my top choice so I really want this to go smoothly.

Do teacher recommendations being completed by the deadline very important?

I have a similar situation where I am no longer at my previous school. Recommendations from my old teachers would come in a bit later, but there’s nothing I can do about it. I’m sure some of the schools would understand as it’s not your part of the application; depends though. Some of the school I applied to were friendly and kind enough to allow my recommendations in later. You should contact Exeter about it if you’re curious.

I would contact both the school and your teachers. I think on GemmaV’s post she said that the schools understand if the recs come in a little late, but I would definitely check with your specific school. Also, even though you did yours online, some of the schools are kind of slow on registering that everything is in. My teacher mailed her recs before Christmas, and it didn’t register until Jan 11.

I think that it’s important to keep in mind that the schools are in a frenzy right now, so everything will be rushed yet slower than usual. Just send your teachers a friendly reminder/how are you doing/update to keep in touch and make sure everything is ok.
Don’t stress…everything will work out in the end :)
