I apologize if this is not the right place to post this but it seemed to fit the most here. As it’s widely known, most colleges want 3 letters in total, 1 from a counselor, and 2 from teachers. Also one of the teachers should be in the field you plan to pursue, right. So here’s my problem: I plan to major in either engineering or get a B.S in business with international relations focus/accounting depending on the school. I already know that one of my teachers writing a letter will be my Physics teacher, great guy, I will have had him for 2 years and he is the sponsor of the engineering club I founded. But my next issue is choosing between which of my SPANISH teachers to write a letter of rec for me. My current spanish teacher is a very intelligent man, well educated etc. and loves me to death. He’s constantly said how he’d LOVE to write a letter of rec. For me and even boasted that he’s read many other teacher recs and has never read one better than his.
My 2nd option is my spanish teacher that I’ll have next year as a senior. He is EXTREMELY nice, but his class is not rigorous AT ALL. I had him for sophomore year and will default have him next year since he’s the only 4th year non AP spanish teacher. Now this teacher is special because he has little known me since I was 3 years old. My father coached with him at my school for like 15 years and they’re still good friends. He told my dad on the phone one day that he REALLY wanted me to take 7-8 so I could have him again and he REALLY wants to write a letter for me too. However, I’m not sure if it will be as good as my current teacher says his are? I mean he literally watched me grow up, and I did very well in his class as well.
So what do I do?
-Choose the one who’s known me since childhood or the one who’s super intellectual and educated, knows 8 languages and apparently has the best reputation for letter writing? PLEASE HELP
