Recommendation Letter from teacher who no longer is at school

Hello,

I’m applying to college this fall and I’m gathering all the materials I will need. In regards to my reco letters, I have 2 teachers (I am currently a junior) who would be perfect for writing my letters. The thing is there is a chance one of the teachers might not be at my school next year. If I got her reco letter before I applied, would it still count since she taught me junior year? Thanks

One of my kids used a teacher from junior year that had left the school. Shouldn’t be a problem.

Yes, there is no problem using a recommendation letter from teacher who is not in the school anymore.

Yeah, no problem and more common than you think.

In my school, we always write letters for kids in spring of Junior year; they’re due before final report cards in June.

It’s easier for the College Placement office, but it also means that Seniors aren’t left scrambling if someone leaves over the summer.

Ask the teacher today. But give him/her a copy of a resume detailing all you’ve done. It will make the letter much easier to write!
