I talked to one of my recommenders about some of the hardships I faced as a child. Should I let every one of my recommenders know about it? I mean, wouldn't they just all write the same thing for that?

Our GC said the teachers are expected to write about your performance in class. Any other recs who are familiar with you in other settings can write about you as they've seen you. You can discuss your hardships & how you've learned & grown from them in your essay or other parts of the app. (at least that's my suggestion). You may wish to talk with your GC about this issue for further insights.

It is not a teachers job to talk about hardships. They should talk about you- your personality, etc, but hardships, to me, no. Because just telling them without them knowing before could make for some awkward recs

Ok, thanks a lot guys! Yeah, I'd feel awkward talking about it to everybody. I told one teacher because we know each other very well.
