Recommendations On Reviewing Biology Over the Summer Before Taking AP Biology?

Recommendations On Reviewing Biology Over the Summer Before Taking AP Biology? Deciding between AP Chem and this, but I'm probably doing this. I haven't taken Bio Honors since 9th grade, so it's been awhile. What should I use over the summer to refresh my memory before taking AP Bio next year? I forgot a lot, but I know if I review it a tiny bit, it will all come back.

well my teacher gave us assignments to do over the summer. If you’re using the Campbell book (curse that book) I would suggest reading the chemistry of life and water property chapter for now. I’m not trying to discourage you but AP biology goes beyond what you learn freshman year. Honestly taking a full year of freshman bio was just not enough. Oh if you are using the Campbell book, just a heads up, it’s extremely wordy and drags on and on then sums up what you need to know in one sentence. Don’t let it scare you and make sure you have a barrons book alongside to help you.

bump…

Don’t stress out about it. I went straight into AP Bio (no previous bio classes) with nothing but my limited and somewhat useless knowledge gained from the summer work. Enjoy your summer. If your AP Bio class is anything like mine, it’ll be the last time you ever get to have fun for the year.

my recommendation -

over the summer go out and have fun before you have to memorize a seemingly infinite amount of material for AP Bio.

I just meant something very small to look over, and I was going to do it some time randomly over the summer, maybe on a plane on my way on vacation? That’s all.

Any help???

I’m just reading over the anatomy chapter of the Campbell’s book this summer since my AP Bio teacher won’t cover it since the majority of AP Bio students here also take anatomy at the same time.

read through cliffs lol. I WISH i had done that.

See… me not remembering that much makes me want to switch to AP Chem, but everyone at my school says it’s sooooo hard, this is coming from students who got high A’s in Honors Chem, but their grade dropped in AP Chem.

Would a Cliff Notes on Biology be a good idea if they have one?
EDIT: LOL I just read your post.

^ I’m going to buy Barron’s or something along those lines to read.

I need to. My teacher is convinced you can’t study everything in a year, and that he wouldn’t be able to get even a 4.

The AP Barrons Book? Wouldn’t that be to much?

I’m not just going over it only in the summer. A little bit in the summer, and more or less, my salvation for the actual school year.

Ok I just bought Biology Spark Notes, should I also by the AP Bio ones also?

I think the AP ones would be more directed to the test. I’d get those.

To be honest, AP Bio is a joke. Pay attention in class (so you won’t have too much trouble with memory) and do the labs, but at the end of the year you’ll realize that all you had to do was spend 15 days on 15 brief chapters in the CliffsNotes review book.
