When you give your teachers the rec forms...

When you give your teachers the rec forms, what do they say?

This week I gave the school report form to the secretary, and the three recommendations to my history teacher, algebra teacher, and last year's history teacher/quiz bowl and geography bee coach.

The secretary said that she would be sad to see me go. Last year's history teacher said that he has to decide whether or not to write a good or bad recommendation because if he writes a bad one I could stay at my current school.

My algebra teacher said she'd send it as soon as possible and my current history teacher said that he'd gladly fill it out.

It kind of makes me sad that my teachers said they would miss me and would be sad to see me go. I didn't know they even cared that much.

So what did your teachers say to you when you gave them the recommendation forms and how do you feel about it?

Loads of kids at my school give my teachers recs because we all go off to boarding school. My teachers didn't really care if I stayed or not.

Math teacher: "Thanks. I'll do this over break."
English teacher: "Thanks. I'll write you an amazing one. You're a good candidate".
Personal teacher: "Thanks. I'll write you an amazing one."

ditto what she said. :)

Jonathan, I thought your school ended in eighth grade? Wouldn't you be going anyway?
Things varied from teacher to teagher with my. My fencing coach said they would write me a bad one so I would stay, and my other teachers mostly just said yes, they'd be very happy to, etc. My maths teacher was very happy when she realized that I'd called and asked for the schools to let her fill out the common application so she only had to fill out one. :D

When I left my private school for IB, my teachers were devastated, really. My advisor rejected to write it. I've had people telling me not to go. As for this year, they didn't really care. My business teacher wrote me one saying i was the top 1% of all the students he has taught. Although I have a feeling he's lying, but I'll take it. My music teacher, said he would really miss me since I play an instrument no one plays..

The high school is right across the street. Everyone from the middle school goes on to the same high school.

Not many people apply to other high schools. I'm the only one in my grade for sure, and I doubt it happens often. A lot of people at my school don't even know what prep school is.

Ah. In my district, it's pretty large, and you rarely would see teachers/counselers/principals from previous schools.
It's kind of annoying, because at my school they give guidance counselers in the spring, so we can decide which "small school" in the high school we want to go to. It really would have been much better for me to have one of those in autumn.

my guidance counselor was reidiculous.. she was like "wow, i'm so happy. i'm just reveling in this moment! you've grown up.. wow! blair! i'm so excited for you!" she looked like she was going to cry... i've only known her for a few months. i was a bit freaked out.

That is kind of weird. I mean, it's not even as though you'd gotten in. You were just asking for a recomendation. Oh, well. Adults act unpredictably sometimes.

She probably just really cared, that's all.

It really made me sad though when the teachers said they would be sad to see me go, but I should be thinking about my future.

I'll keep in touch with the teachers, anyway. :)

yeah my guidance counselor told me to keep in touch.. that is, if i go..

I suppose that's probably it. It's very nice that she does care that much, after only a few months.
I'm definitely keeping in touch with the sixth grade teacher I work for, and the kids in her class. I keep telling them I can't wait to see them when they're in eighth grade, when they'll be mean. ;)
