Hey guys. I was wondering about when I should get my recommendations from teachers, mentors, etc. I’ve heard some disaster stories about people starting too late at my school. With the common app, do my recommendations have to write several different recommendations? And should I send the recommendations by the mail myself instead of letting my counselors do so?
You should get your recommendations soon as your teachers need time to write them.
The teachers can write several different one, personalize them for each school you’re applying to, but very few teachers want to put in that much effort.
There’s a thing that you have to sign to say that you will not look at the rec (it’s recommended that you sign/agree to this). This means the counselors/teachers will send the rec letters themselves and you can’t look at them.
