I was wondering if it’s a bad idea to use a family member for a personal confidential recommendation for a small local scholarship. I feel they can write well of my character and the things I’ve done for my community, please let me know asap, thank you!
Probably best to get someone who is not a family member.
If I was part of making a decision on awarding a scholarship, I would heavily discount a recommendation written by an applicant’s family member. So yes, I think it’s a bad idea.
My S had a pastor, teacher and employer write recommendations.
