I'm just wondering if you need to get teacher recommendations from the teachers you have when you get the recommendation or can you ask some of your past teachers to write recommendations?

I'm just scared that if my new teachers don't like me, I wouldn't be able to get a good recommendation

You will need recommendations from your current math and english teacher and also current counselor. I guess you could bend the rules, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

you should just become friends with your new teachers and you don’t even have to write the recomendation until around October or november and by then they would have plenty of time to get to know you

Many schools look upon it as a red flag for a problem if you do not have your current English and Math teachers fill out the (common form) recommendations, but the requirements can vary by school. It is assumed that your 8th grade teachers will get to know you well enough by the time those recommendations are due. Generally if you have something unique that a different teacher could add (like a music teacher you’ve had for years, or a language teacher who can say you’re the best student she’s had in 37years of teaching), it will be welcomed, but it’s wise to ask the particular school first. Some want only what they ask for.
