Nearly all boarding schools request recommendations from Math and English teachers. Must those be 8th grade teachers who have only known the student for a few short months? Or can a kid submit recommendations from past English and Math teachers who are more familiar with their work, strengths, and weaknesses?
I remember most schools wanted the 8th grade teachers. Our 8th grade teachers were fine with writing them.
The schools ds applied to wanted 8th grade teachers. However, one school also had an optional student-choice recommendation and another school specified that they didn’t want the teacher recommendations prior to Dec 1(?) so that the teachers had a chance to get to know the student.
There will be specific instructions for each school to which you are applying, but as far as I remember math and English recommendations had to be from the current teachers.
