recommendations!

Just wondering do they ever check recommendations , like call teachers ?

your planning something devious. Your chicanery shall be futile. j/k, I don't know exactly what I typed. maybe, they might just do random call checks to see if it checks out, I'm not sure, good question.

heck, yes. Colleges try to stay close to the HS's and keep in regular contact with counselors at schools. When they call they don't talk about the weather, they talk about the kids applying that year. And if you're thinking of sending in a rec under a teachers name, won't the teacher be surprised when he/she gets the thank-you postcard from the college!!

LOL funkmasta ,I'm an international and my teachers are not used with the usa admission process so I just wanted to know weather I should tell them that they might get contacted or not.

It would be unusual for them to be contacted. The college might contact your guidance counselor if they thought something looked "fishy" in the application. I don't personally think they would ever call a teacher directly since teachers have classroom hours and would be hard to contact. GC's have a desk and office hours.

A student at our high school last year got caught when he tried to submit a teacher recommendation that he wrote by himself. The teacher had written a recommendation for another student and the admissions representative caught the deception. Not only did he not get in to Johns Hopkins, there were disciplinary repercussions at the high school. He is now at a branch campus (not the main campus) of Ohio State, commuting and living at home.
