does most recruiting take place during the fall or spring semester? i'm an industrial engineer so am looking into some operations/leadership development programs that are have deadlines in a month already. but seriously, are there a more jobs available in the spring? i'm expecting the bulk of the less competitive engineering jobs (e.g. less glamourous, reputable, etc...) to be be available then. is this a correct assumption?

bump! so i’m not getting much luck so far right now. just using school’s career listings. i have a 3.2 gpa at berkeley engineering. know if it’ll get better later on? should i use monster.com?

Depends on the schools but in my experience the bulk of the companies come during the Fall.

Use any/every resource you have possible, the Berkley career center, Monster.com and what not.

A lot of full-time recruiting is done in the fall. However, there will be some in the spring as well. In all honesty I would think that Berkeley should have quite a bit of resources for you to draw on. I can hardly imagine that Monster.com or the like will offer you any better chance, in fact, probably much worse. Nevertheless, it never hurts to throw out a blanket it just depends how much free time you have to do this.

Im pretty sure Ive read something posted by you before about these leadership programs and how to get into one. From an outside perspective I would advise you to take a hard look at your resume, get it critiqued, and look at other peoples in order to gauge the effectiveness of yours compared to theirs. I found that this was really helpful for me to do I found a university that posts their students resumes online - and I took what I liked best about the ones I saw and came up with mine. My GPA is in line with yours, Im in IE, and I have had quite a bit of success with the types of jobs youre looking at. Specifically, if youre having trouble getting the interview then you need to really look at your resume and make improvements. If youre having trouble getting offers after the interview then you really need to practice your interviewing skills. It really comes down to these two things, Berkeley is only going to get you the opportunity the rest is up to you.
