Recruiting for Singing?

I know that Brown recruits for Athletics, but does it recruit for singers (i.e. a State finalist for a male tenor)? If so, does that include a likely letter during senior year?

As far as I know, there’s no organized recruitment process for anything other than sports.

When you apply, you’ll send in a tape. Admissions sends the tape to the music department, where it is reviewed and graded. This is made part of your file. Obviously if you get a really high score you become more attractive for admissions. But your grades and recommendations have to be really strong, too. There is no likely letter process as there is for athletes.

Aside from athletes, Brown sends out very few likely letters – maybe 100 or so, in March. They are typically sent to the strongest candidates, the ones Brown feels will be sought after by their peers (i.e., HYP).
