My AP Eng. Lang teacher wrote me a rec about how she definitely felt that I was one of the best young writers ever in her career.

I also have some killer essays that is something that college undergrads usually write, not HS seniors (according to a bunch of ppl that my dad knows who hold Master's in English). I did write all of them however, the only editing I really received were a few grammatical and diction issues (stuff like who vs. whom).

So, it's good that my essays are up to what my english teacher raved about me.

But then, there's my AP Eng. Lang score, which was a 3.

Would colleges think that my 3 was probably due to a fluke/bad day situation? or will they think that I had too much adult interference on my essays?

Well SAT's and AP Scores have time limits. It's hard to write a solid essay in 20 minutes or 3 in 120 minutes. That is the way I see it. Most school's aren't weighting the writing scores heavily in admission. As long as they see that you can write well through your essays, you should be fine! Good luck!
+ you are aiming for science, not writing, so really it doesn't even matter if you are a stellar writer

I understand your situation. I got a 4 on English Lit, and I'm sending in a supplement (short story) to princeton if I get deferred. my CR score was pathetic last october (660) and dont expect much more aft this oct. test.

The writing SAT score is bogus. I got a 780 the first time w/ a 9 on my essay, and 760 the second time with a perfect 12 on the essay. Did I somehow lose my grammar skills but gain the ability to write an eloquent essay in a few months?? I don't think so! I'm applying to Princeton tool; good luck!
