<p>I was thinking of getting some of my recs from my club adviser for the math team and my research mentor for a summer research program. The Math Team has really been the focus of my high school career and my advisor should have lots to say about me. My research mentor is a physicist at a National Lab.</p>
<p>Can I ask them to write me teacher recs? What should I consider?</p>
<p>Most colleges ask for 2 teacher recs and 1 from your GC. Your teacher recs MUST come from teachers you’ve taken a class from. You can use the club advisor and research mentor as supplemental recs, but not as your main teachr recs.</p>
<p>Please be advised, if you send supplemental recs, they should be both excellent and address some aspect of you that your teacher/GC recs do not. Just more is not necessarily better.</p>
