Just returned from a long weekend in Bloomington and thought I'd share this... If you are considering attending a Red Carpet Day, but you had previously attended a Discover IU day within the last 18 months, it's probably not worth it to attend Red Carpet Day. We found there was very little difference between Discover IU Day and Red Carpet Day even though Red Carpet Day is only for admitted students. The biggest difference is that you get an IU t-shirt :)

Having said that, I'm still glad we attended the Monday Red Carpet Day. It's only a 4.5 hour drive for us, we were already going to IU on Friday for the Connect With Kelley event, and my daughter did not have school on Monday. So no airfare, extra missed school or exhausing travel, just the expense of 2 extra nights in a hotel. We got the fresh perspective of a different student tour guide, and we picked up some good info tidbits from parents of current IU students (like it's fine for a student in the Kelley School of Business to have a Mac instead of a PC). And actually, my daughter shadowed a Hutton Honors student in the afternoon, while we parents attended the Red Carpet Q&A and Kelley sessions without her. But most everything during the Red Carpet Day is a repeat of the Discover IU Day.
