@DebraOfUSVI Were the decisions mailed on 3/20, received on 3/20, or available by e-mail/web portal on 3/20? I ask only because the Reed website speaks of “mailing” decisions. Thanks.
@brooklynilene - On 3/21/14 people received emails

I can’t say that would be the case this year as there was a significant increase in apps and admissions may need more time.
I got a handwritten letter from Reed admissions as well. There’s no way Reed could’ve sent one to each of the 5000+ applicants, so maybe it’s some sort of likely letter? Idk.
I hope I get one by tomorrow or Wednesday. I live on the other side of the country so maybe it took a while. Did anyone in NY get it?
@Cosmological I live in CT and didn’t get one either, for what it’s worth.
I live in GA, and I have two friends who also applied to Reed but didn’t receive postcards
Please what exact day will decisions be out really fidgeting
My daughter attended Reed several years ago. I have to say that it is probably the school where “fit” matters a tremendous amount! In other words, grades and test scores are all well and good, and you do need them and a good work ethic to succeed there, but Reed cares a lot about fit and you can be a genius and still might not get in if you’re not a good match for its community, IMHO.
@tellm3more What kind of “fit” do you mean ? Is it a certain personality type or character trait ? Does the study body seem vanilla (as in a plain flavor) ? I thought Reed was one of those places that was eclectic and encouraged intellectual vitality.
@frodosdojo that is exactly what I mean, the student body does not seem vanilla at all, so someone who might feel uncomfortable with its eclectic and creative atmosphere might not do well there.
crossing fingers we will hear tomorrow like last year !
what time did they hear last year/through portal or email?
I heard they’re doing it through mail. Are most people saying it’ll be tomorrow because of previous years?
They sent out emails last year: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/reed-college/1628394-reed-class-of-2018-rd-thread-p1.html
I called earlier and asked when they would be released and the lady said by April 1st. I also asked how they would notify and she said through mail. I’m thinking that I may have misunderstood her now. She could’ve actually said email…because that would be odd if it were through mail if they’ve always used email @frodosdojo
I’m dreading decisions… I really really really want to go to Reed, but I hadn’t realized that until recently, so my essays were all terrible. And it’s too late to show interest. (I didn’t know Reed offered interviews until today!) I hope that I’ll be extremely lucky and be forgiven.
Good luck to everyone!
REED OFFERED INTERVIEWS???
whoops.
Interviews don’t matter a lot. Don’t worry too much, guys! Getting a decision when you aren’t expecting one–especially a positive one–is the best.
