Regarding Housing

Here's some info I found...
http://www.collegehouses.upenn.edu/programs/res_programs_2005-6.html#healthywoodland

mike.. it's supposed to be in ware? look in that big booklet.. under the houses it has the res. programs

and ware is in the quad

but it says "This program is located on 5th floor of Rodney/EF Smith"

.. eh?

I saw the blurb there, I was just looking for more info

yeah, that'd be nice. i wanna know what the chances of me getting into the program are

is it worth writing an essay for these programs?? the majority doesnt do them right?

yeah, does anyone know if its really worth doing a residential program, and how much time they entail?

i've heard not to do it unless you're interested in what the program is, but i've also heard they entail no time.

i suppose it depends on the year and program.

yeah. idk if this has already been discussed, but most of them usually don't do anything, while the language ones.. do? or something.

so the doubles/triples/quads in ALL the highrises are essentially "singles" in that you sleep in your own room, but like SHARE a common room/kitchen/bathroom if available? right? is it not like the other college house when there are TWO beds in one room?

i don't think my frosh get the highrises tho... but yes that is correct...

Can anyone comment on the Goldberg media & communications residential program? Thanks. I'm a big film fan and it's in the quad, so it seems perfect, but I'm wondering what the atmosphere is like.

What does the housing application look like? What questions are asked in it? Do we have to rank choices of housing?

I'm wondering too -- can anyone give any info?

andy2009:

There are different layouts for rooms. The quads are mostly 3 bedrooms, meaning 1 double and 2 singles. People usually agree to "move" after the first semester. So you'll be living in a single for one semester, and then a double (w/ a roommate).

Most of the 4 bedroom quads are occupied by upperclassmen who opt to retain their rooms. Graduating seniors hand these rooms down to underclassmen, and the cycle continues.

What is Stouffer/ Mayer Hall like?

How much of Mayer hall is freshman? Also, how many people are in each bedroom? 1 or 2

hey is anyone else having trouble picking harrison? cuz its not on my drop-down list for college houses....

yeah there are only 10 houses on thelist not 11....

okay- my question- should i put hill on my list or does that automatically screw me over (ive hneard both) im going 2 res programs, the 1 in quad, then not sure what to do(both res are in quad) so i might leave it blankl but im not really sure - i guess id rather be in hill that WEB or gregory, but im not sure about stoffer or high rises (dont really want to be in those either though)

if we can only put 3 options for the quad, what should we use to fill up the rest so as to guarentee we will end up in the quad? if we put highrises etc will we automatically end up living there?

nothing u can put will guaruntee u the quad- its all a lottery system. just put other mostly frosh dorms as ur backup- such as hill or kings court.
