(i didn't list a regular 5/6 preference, but i listed those last 2 in the 7/8 section... i'm not sure how that'll work out...) if i don't get in the quad or hill, i don't really care where i end up.

MLP is intensive if you do it for credit (which is entirely optional) otherwise it's just movies, free food and pseudo-intellectual conversation at dinner when you feel like them. It's not (AFAIK) ever oversubscribed either, so if you put it as a high choice, you'll likely end up there.

i actually asked this in another thread, but anyhow... i'm considering the programs in hill- med care & med challenge, exploring philly, frosh leadership- and was wondering if any of yall know if they REQUIRE anything from the participants or if its just on how much time you want to give to it. thanks!!

silmon77-- now let's just hope we get our choices! (i don't want to end up in a highrise!) and maybe we'll see each other in the quad :) (yea i'm such a proponent of wishful thinking...)

im sort of looking into a college house w/ a good social atmosphere and extracurrics/activities, yet at the same time one which provides a good work environment come finals time

Okay, I really really want to be in the quad. I want it mainly due to the whole social aspect but also because I wouldn't mind having air conditioning. Because I am asthmatic, having an air conditioning system really helps remove allergens from the air, thus allowing me to breathe alot easier.

Do you think a doctor's note suggesting that I be placed in an air-conditioned dorm would help place me in the quad? Would the housing people just frown upon this and consider me some whiny, manipulative baby? Also, could this also increase the chance that I be assigned to the high rises? (which I really dont want)

I think I may just cross my fingers and hope for the best. Not getting the quad is definitely not the end of the world.

Hey coffeeaddict.. i dont think you'd be frowned upon for being asthmatic. infact in your housing application, you will be asked if you have any medical conditions thay they should be aware of and if you have any special housing needs. i think you can specify this in your application and they will try and accomodate you accordingly! good luck :)

Can anyone give more information on the residential programs, primarily the two medicine-related ones-- Medical Care at Hill and Study of Infectious Diseases at Ware? I'm interested in both of them, but there's hardly any information on them, and I definitely want a floor that isn't incredibly competitive and isn't completely antisocial.

Do not do Hill. We've had like 40 alarms go off this year and they make you go stand out in the cold for like half an hour in the middle of the night because some idiot was cooking popcorn and didn't know how to do it correctly. If you decide to avoid the cold you must deal with the annoying alarm-message repeating itself over and over followed by three really annoying siren blairs through the intercoms installed in every room. Oh my god I am so sick of these alarms.

Ware double

Fisher Hassenfield double

Riepe double (I thought Riepe was the lamest name of the three)

Hill double
5-8 were highrise quads/triples.

If we apply for a residential program (or two) would those take precedence automatically over other housing choices if were accepted? For example, if I put 1) Hill- Double 2) Hill- Single 3) Example Res. Program.... would I be assigned to the available, first choice double or automatically enter that Residential program if accepted?
