So I'm 2nd year Political Science and History double major (officially Pre-Poli Sci though since I haven't completed the pre reqs yet). So right now I'm just working a small on campus work study job making a bit above minimum wage. However, I know that I should start looking for a real job soon, you know like an internship at a business.

I have a BruinView account and I've been looking at summer jobs/internships, and they're all in areas like Santa Monica, LA, and such. Some are even in Irvine, which is close to my home. They're all great and I'd like to apply to them. The question is...should I? Or should I wait until I'm a junior?

See, I still live in dorms and I don't have a car here. So even if I did get hired for the internships during the school year, I'd have no idea how to get over there. And please don't say bus. I'd spend like 3-5 hours just trying to get there alone. In addition, even if they were interested in hiring me, how am I going to get to the interview? I may not work the regular year internship, but I can always apply for the summer job. But there's no real way I can make it to the interview. I mean I can always ask a friend, but it's a huge hassle and they'd be doing me a big favor. So...when do you humanity majors usually go for real jobs and internships that aren't related to working at Powell Library or something for work study.
