Regarding Video Games

You don't want to risk it. A LAN game isn't hard to set up and doesn't break any rules, but beyond doing that, you risk trying to crack the firewall. Bad idea...period. Network people don't take kindly to it.

Air Force comm guy opinion: Trying to circumvent DoD network security can have MAJOR consequences. That is punishable under the UCMJ, usually classified under FWA but it depends on what was accessed.

As a side note a lot of guys have been kicked out of the AF from my unit for being stupid enough to play WoW or online poker on government computers.

Yeah, you would probably get some confinements and a stern warning to never do ANYTHING wrong on the network again...or they could just cut your internet (which would REALLY mess you up around here!)

i've heard comm squad horror stories. lol

lol wow, in that case, completely disregard my previous post... you can live without your internet video games for a few years, it won't kill you ;)

What exactly are the rules at the AFA on computer and cell phone use??

You'll be issued a computer after BCT.

You probably won't be allowed to have a cell phone though until Parent's Weekend. After that, you should be able to use it on the weekends until Prog (mid-semester, i.e. October). If you're doing alright academically at Prog, you'll get unrestricted cell phone use.
