Regent scholarship

If you get a letter asking for
an interview, does this mean that
you got into Berkeley???

Yes.

congrats~!!!!!!

i also got the regents' letter, but does anyone know if i would still be officially accepted into the college if i decline the invitation for the interview?

Don't decline the interview. This interview determines if you get a scholarship.

but i don't really need the scholarship money or anything. i might as well allow someone else who needs it to get it.

Do the interview. Why decline free money and a membership to the RCSA?

Is it harder to get Regents for UCLA? Because it seems like those who receive UCLA regents get regents for CAL also. On the other hand, those who get regents for CAL don't exactly get one from UCLA. ???

I think it's harder to get Cal regents because I got an invite from LA but not Cal.

Could it have anything to do with how you prioritized the campuses you were applying to on the general UC app?

I don't recall there being any campus numbering on the app; only UCSD had college ordering.

Well...the regents for UCLA also requires extra essays and additional application materials on top of the interview.

the regents for UCLA is more difficult to get. if you look on UCLA's website, it says they only allow the top 1000 applicants to the school apply for the regents scholarship. of those 1000, only 100 get the scholarship/recognition. cal accepts about 200 regents scholars each year.

online it says to bring any recs appropriate. that means we bring the actual letters to the interview and hand it to the professor? it doesn't seem likely that the professor would spend any time reading it when the entire interview is only 30 minutes. or does it get filed away somewhere for future reference?

Hm. Does anyone know what to wear to the regents
interview??????
:-(

i heard it's pretty casual. but that's just what i heard.

it says online.. business casual

do u guys know what kind of questions they ask in the interview?

That means nothing, though... the exact quoting is "about 200 incoming freshmen," which I believe to be tricky phrasing. Sure, 200 Berkeley freshman are Scholars, but what about those who got it and didn't want to go to Berkeley. For all we know (it's not true, though) everyone could have gotten the scholarship, and only 200 decided to take it.

The only real number I've heard is 600 recipients.

Since, a portion of people have been accepted, what is that percent? About how many people receive regents notification? We can then divide that around 8000-10000--an estimate for the number of total people admitted this year.
