tests for people in new york? i think, i don't know anybody from any other state that has taken them.

Standardized tests in NY state.

"Regents" also refers to certain scholarships--many (if not all) of the UCs give a very prestigious scholarship to the top applicants, called the Regents Scholarship (or the Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarship, for some campuses). Generally it's the top 1-2% of the applicant pool who are nominated, and only a portion of those are actually given the scholarship.

Thanks for the info, especially kyledavid, since I live in California and will be considering the UC's.

Regents are subject tests administered solely in the state of New York, slightly easier than the SAT II's. They are given at the end of June, more than a month after the AP tests, so we finish class ages after any other state. So we have nothing to do in our AP classes for almost the entire fourth quarter. Also, since our schools start later, we have less time to learn the AP material before the test. REGENTS ARE EVIL!

-- sorry for the rant, this stuff just bothers me.

^so ny kids get out school in late june?!? when does school begin again?

School doesn't begin that late in NY... generally the tuesday or wednesday after labor day.

Stella, I know of the struggle quite well. :| You'd think that New York State would do something about this considering the AP kids predicament.

Oic. cool nice amazing now I know what regents are. thanks.

Ditto....and sucks for the Ny kids.
