Regional admissions officers

I understand that some colleges assign regional admissions officers. Are these the people who will visit my region and read the application I send in?

Yup, they’re the ones! I believe the reading process differs between colleges, but IIRC regional admissions officers do play a pretty big role in evaluating your application.

The people who visit schools are college representatives and may be admissions officers, but not always. UChicago flew in the dean of admissions to visit my high school, but Yale just sent some random alumnus who happened to be in the area, so it depends.

Best of luck!

You can go to the college’s website, and somewhere in the admissions section there should be a list of the regional representatives. You might want to email your rep and ask when they will be visiting your area and whether you could schedule an interview with them. At the very least, if they are coming to your area, make a point to go visit whatever event they are at (college fair, school visit, etc) and introduce yourself, sign the mailing list, and chat a little bit.
