Registration Question

My D was orientation this week and registered this morning..her schedule is less than ideal but it was all that she could get. My question is..once you register, are you able to go in and add/drop anytime or is there a date/time that she has to do that? She is in a FIG so those classes will have to stay the same but she wants to change the other two if possible.

She needs to check her RIS (Registration Information Sheet) for her add/drop windows.

Actually, there is a loop hole. My daughter went to an early orientation last year. She waited on a long line to register, and got few of the classes she wanted. She was given a tip by someone.

The next week from home, she went online and changed her schedule. Each Friday at the local austin time, they open new spots for those registering at orientation. She was able to log on,(since she had registered the week before) and get classes she was shut out of. Apparently, this only works for frosh who attended an earlier orientation.

In summation, if you attend orientation and get shut out, wake up early each and every friday morning, log on, and keep trying to get what you want. Be online the second registration opens that week. Don’t wait for your letter. You can go online at the first minute. You have a great chance that you will get what you want.

Unless of course, they close the loophole this year. I doubt it though.

Hope that helps…

Thaks Socaldad! That’s what D was thinking she could do but we weren’t sure. I love these boards!

Thanks Sundoll…I went to that page and none of her info is on there regarding registration this morning… Is that where her schedule will be posted?

Her schedule won’t be on her RIS, it will just have the times she’s eligible to register or make changes listed there.

I was at orientation this week and socaldad is 100% correct. In fact thats even what the advisors told us to do if we were unhappy with our schedules.

I definitely recommend checking back on friday mornings as well. I didn’t know freshmen could do it too but if it works, then go for it! I’m a sophomore and didn’t get into the spanish class I wanted for the fall and when my registration opened back up last week on a Thursday, I still didn’t get in. I called the spanish department and the lady told me to check every friday morning so then I logged back in at 8am the next day and sure enough, a few classes had opened up and I got into one.

Thanks so much for the info everyone! D actually gopt off the waitlist already for a math class that she wanted so I highly recommend those that will be registering in the future to waitlist yourself if it is an option.
