regret getting a 5 on ap calc bc

i'm going to be a neuroscience major/pre-med at ucla
and thus i would need 3 quarters of math for most medical schools.
i really wanted to start with 3B, but from what i hear, i have to start with 3C or 32A.

so right now my dilemma is whether i should take
Math 32A with Rogawski or Math 3C with Barbaro (super early 8AM)
i can't find Barbaro on bruinwalk but i found out she was a graduate student at ucsb a few years ago. so i think shes pretty young, thus less experience and i'm not sure if shes a good professor.

has anyone ever had her, and would comment on her class?!

or should i just skip math all together until spring 2010 and take 3C with oberlin?
bruinwalk says oberiln is alright

by the way i honestly don't like probability, and enjoy calculus more
i did probability in alg 2 and hated it, but in stats i thought it was alright
but calculus wasnt really that difficult in high school, but would doing 32A be too hard since i'll be taking it with engineers?

also i took statistics at a cc, so would i need to retake it, or would medical schools accept that as a quarter of math?!

I don’t know that you have to start with 3c or 32A. Talk to a counselor. If you don’t want to take a lot of math, you might be better off just taking the whole 3 series or 31ab/32a. Since you aren’t a math major, I don’t see a point in taking harder math classes unless you want to.

That being said 32a is very easy, so I wouldn’t be worried about that.

I’ve never taken Barbaro, but 8 am math is probably a bad idea. You will learn the same thing regardless of the professor.

I had Oberlin for one quarter. He’s ok. Nice guy.

Ask a counselor if you can just take 3a/b/c or 31a/b/32a

How difficult is math31b? I liked calc, but it was unfortunately my teacher’s first time teaching calc and I had a bout of laziness. The teachers are Moschovakis and Khan and Ouellette. Either bad or no info on all 3 of them.

according to this website

[UCLA Department of Mathematics](<a href=“Undergraduate Program | UCLA Department of Mathematics”>Undergraduate Program | UCLA Department of Mathematics)

i have to take 32A or 3C =/

does anyone know if its possible to just take 32A instead of finishing the whole series to 33A?
can i just take 32A, 32B + use my stats grade from cc?

er, if you get a 5 on BC Calc, can’t you choose not to skip 31A and B. I got a 5 and I’m planning to start with 31B…

you have to take 32A/3C. this is a well known fact.

someone has to verify this. im quite sure this is how it is. my major counselor at orientation insisted on this.

take barbaro. she taught 3b last quarter and from what i heard she was wayyy better than my prof (richardson) she’s super nice too from what i heard

So I have to take 32A then?

■■■, I suck at Calc.

also i think since you get the credit for 3a and 3b you don’t have to do 3 quarters of math since the ap score satisfies those other 2 quarters… ask a counselor about it but i don’t see any point of them making you take more math past 3c (also 32a is probably going to be harder than 3c, its one of the hardest ones in the series in my opinion)

^that’s not the point, the point is that medical school still requires you to take 3 quarters of math since they won’t accept the BC AP credit that UCLA gives you for 3A and 3B.

oo that sucks… what do people do after 3c tho? upperdiv math? btw jinobi you are the one that lived in glenrock west right? i got a few more questions lol

No, most upper divs require 32a/b or 33a/b or 115a or some combination of those.

I have to wonder, what if you choose to just not report that one score. Say you want to leave it off of your record.

I guess if you want to take 3 quarters, think about 32a/b and 33a.

but 3 series is a lot easier (at least from what i heard), personally i didn’t like 32a and b, 33a and b are not that bad tho…

Just take Math 3C sometime this year. Then take 2 easy statistics classes. Stop whining.

Look how easy the biostats professors are and then tell me if you “regret” passing the AP exam.

I’m still confused. Let’s assume someone is not premed. Does a 5 on the Calc BC test mean you have to take 32A instead of 31B if you report that score?

yezzzzzzir

Being a premed is completely irrelevant.
