Regular Decision Release Date fall 2022

Totally sincere words too. I’ve worked in a public high school for 20 years. Release dates can bring anything from joy to despair, but what they aren’t is a judgment on ability or character. Many times it’s more or less luck of the draw among oodles of qualified applicants for admission and merit aid. I don’t love a student less when they get into X school, but not Y, nor do I love one more because the opposite is true. Kids applying to these schools have what it takes to be successful, it’s just up to fate or Powers That Be to see what the path is.

Fortunately, when one school is a let down, another can come through.

Yeah, sort of a bummer. She really loved the school. We didn’t get to visit but met with the visiting admissions officer at least 2-3 times. But it makes our decision easy. I think DD has secretly made a choice, but won’t tell me ;).

Totally understand that Rochester is need aware! Yet they are also a peer school to Case Western, who is very generous.

A lack of merit from UofR isn’t great in comparison. 100K+ of merit elsewhere certainly clarifies the decision making process on the parental end

My D was accepted The letter indicates merit aid but it is not clear if the amount is total or per year. Should I assume total?

Son got waitlisted. Got into Syracuse with Merit today and was feeling good, but kind of deflated now and not too confident about other reachier schools he hasn’t heard from yet. Oh well.

Son got in with Dean’s Merit $8000. Not sure if it one time or yearly. Not enough though. So off the list.

Congrats! That is amazing!

Same here - loved the school but not to the tune of $80k/year. My daughter sadly declined her admission so hopefully someone who was waitlisted can get some happy news. Congrats to everyone who got in!

Hi, does you acceptance explicitly state 25k per year? My D has a slightly smaller number but it is not clear if it is annual or total for the 4 years. Thanks

is that 18k per year or total over 4 years?

No the letter did not but if you go to the applicant portal at the top there is a merit notification button. I clicked on that and it explained the scholarship in detail.

My son got in ED and received merit. We also thought my son’s merit (12K) was total, but then he read the fine print and it was per year. So I would assume the same for your daughter, but of course, this is something that would need official confirmation.

Accepted U of R no merit, Case Western 40k/year. Schools seem very similar, so Case it is unless someone can explain why U of R would be worth the cost!

Agree. With the Case scholarship in hand and the schools seeming so comparable, I am also interested in hearing the rationale for choosing Rochester full-pay….?

I got in as an Asian international student (full-pay) from an overrepresented country…?
117 TOEFL (30R, 29 *3), 1500 (710, 790), 96/100 GPA. My school follows the national curriculum but I self studied 4 APs and submitted 2 scores - AP Cal BC (5), Microecon (5), Lit (3), World History (3). Decent ECs…most of them are self-initiated. I think I have decent essays as well (I think I did literally everything I could lol…a family LOR, graded research paper, and an updated resume in Feb).

D admitted but no scholarship. She was deferred EA from Case Western and expecting not so great news tomorrow. She hasn’t visited yet but really loved Rochester. It is hard to justify the cost, though.

Congrats again to all who got in and good luck to those waitlisted!

Super helpful thread! My son got in, no merit, but I love that they customized the acceptance letter.

My daughter got in with the Prince Street Scholarship for 18K/year! It’s still out of our budget though, so we’ve got some figuring out to do! Absolutely love the school!
