Rejected as a senior, try again for transfer?

Hello- I know how much these suck!! I am really sorry. I would just really love some honest opinions about whether or not I should try again for NYU.

I applied to Gallatin as a senior in hs (3.6 GPA, low SATs 1980). The reason my GPA was so low wsa bc I messed up a lot in the beginning of HS, but turned things around dramatically junior and senior year (got all 100's in my classes one semester!) Took APs and community college courses. I had 60, yes 60, CC credits when i graduated HS. Only 37 of them transfered to my current school but they are pretty much of no use in college.

Anyway, now I am at a private LAC (not top 20) and want to transfer REALLY BADLY. I am taking challenging courses and excepting a 3.8+, maybe a 4.0. Next semester I am taking 5 classes. I tutor local children in spanish, am apart of a club on campus that takes care of tours and host-stays for prospective students, and i am in the Africa club. Next semester i will be working at an Austistic House for children and hopefully, will write something for the student newspaper. So far, I have just been attending the meetings occasionally.

Now, i want to apply to CAS (I should have applied to CAS the first time around). Will my low SATs really hurt me that much? I'm going to have strong essays and recommendations. However, I was rejected the first time I applied (to Gallatin) but I am applying to a different school now. How does this affect my chances?

Any opinions on my chances would be great. Thank you very, very much!

anyone, anyone?

I don't think so. SAT scores are only a small portion of the application, sure, they're important, but it's more of what your application looks like as a whole rather than just your SAT scores. Don't sweat it so much.

ya, i probably shouldnt. thanks for the response. its nice to hear others opinions.
