Rejected by my safety! haha what!

well today I was rejected by my safety/match, Elon. I'm actually extremely surprised. My SAT was 1940, 3.6 HS GPA, 4.0 College (16 credits), good essay, and great ECs. I wonder what this says about my admission chances to UMD, UVA, UNC, and W&M.

I’m so sorry to hear that. My D got in (EA) with a 1900, 3.7 gpa and great ECs. I think the EA helped her. She also did a visit last year but not sure that matters. I heard Elon received a ton more applicants this year. Good luck at your other choices!

Maybe your safety was thinking like this:
“Argh. This guy looks like he just uses us as a safety. Let’s not get him in since he will probably get in his priorities and turn us down anyway. So we have to turn him down first.”

Lol. Keep the hope up!

Well then it wasn’t a real safety. Was it?

What is your plan if you don’t get into any of the others on your list?

16 college credits is hardly enough for them to judge just based on your college gpa. They probably looked back at your HS record and ECs. Get another semester or two in and reapply.

It might be a mistake, call in and ask what happened. I have seen on the forums many times where 3.9 students get denied ( at higher caliber schools, so I figure the GPA evens out) and call in and it was all a technical error. I mean, don’t get your hopes on it, but it’s a possibility…

well actually umd is my target school as im instate and got in as a freshmen, but I figured that Elon was a sure thing. I guess it wasnt lol

It probably has a lot to do with you having only a semester of college work to show. I know UVA doesn’t really weigh the Midterm report, so that could be an issue, but UMD seems like a solid match!
