Does anyone know if it’s possible to reapply RD after being rejected ED at Northwestern? Can you email them or meet to see if they’ll reconsider your application if you have new tests score or some other new hook, or if you just care a lot about the school and feel they made a mistake.
Usually, no. If you’re rejected ED, then you will not be considered for RD. However, if you are deferred, they will reconsider you as a RD applicant. I believe you can appeal a rejection, but that will do virtually nothing.
Once you are rejected ED you cannot reapply RD. Sorry but it is time to move on.
Is there anyway to speak with an AO and appeal?
Nobody on CC can stop you from contacting an admissions officer but unless there was some kind of an error you will not get a different decision. Again, it seems time to move on and focus on the rest of the schools you plan to apply to.
If they thought that you had a chance RD then they would have deferred your application rather than rejected it. Northwestern is a very competitive school and a lot of very strong students are rejected there. I suggest that you focus on other schools.
Agree, you are out of luck if they didn’t defer you to AD. Focus on your other schools; we can help if you need to expand your list. A top school does not care how much you love them.
@homeschoolflexin Wait did you already receive a decision from Northwestern? I thought they came out on the 15th of December?
Maybe they are just anticipating…
Yeah, I am just trying to weigh my options. I have several other schools that I am applying to, but I am most interested in Northwestern for several specific opportunities that most other schools just can’t offer. When I applied I knew my test scores weren’t stellar, so the rest of the fall I worked really hard to get a better score for the December test and I am hoping that it’ll work out. I understand that with schools like NU they constantly have to turn down very qualified candidates for a variety of reasons, but I know that a lot of other schools have a system for appeals (I’ve also heard from stories and close friends that they went to meet with the admissions officer to plead their case) and I was just wondering if anyone knew what Northwestern’s policy was.
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
The policy is that there is no appeal. But really, try not to focus on it until decisions are released. At which point, it is what it is. Closing thread.
