Rejected from College of Biological Sciences but deferred from College of Liberal Art

I applied to and was rejected from the college of biological sciences but in the letter I was deferred from the college of liberal arts. I did not apply to the college of liberal arts. I then went online and looked into their majors. The college of Liberal Arts does not offer my intended major in the sciences. So lets say I was accepted if I choose to attend would I not be able to pursue my intended major? Or could I transfer to the college of biological sciences?

You would have to take some classes as a CLA student and then attempt to transfer in to CBS. Since you have to fulfill several general education requirements freshman year anyway, this actually isn’t too terribly different from being in CBS (you can still take a general biology class, a general chem class, etc. – try to find classes that you’d need to graduate with your intended major in CBS), provided you transfer into CBS when it’s possible.

As the previous post says, you can take all of the same generals through CLA (including CBS classes). However, to graduate with a major that is offered through CBS, you have to be admitted to that college. You can begin taking courses through CLA and attempt to transfer into CBS at a later date; but pay close attention to the transfer requirements and make sure you follow them closely if you are going to attempt this. Also, it is generally much harder to get admitted as a transfer student than to be admitted as a freshman, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll get in that way. Make sure you at least consider other degree options or other universities you could go to for your intended major if you find that can’t transfer into CBS. Good Luck :)

so there is no guranteed admission program or anything to other colleges in the university if you get a certain GPA and have a certain number of credits

persistence is the key, according to me brother. ;)
