Rejected from Hunter!!

Hello,
My stats
Sat : reading. 490
Math; 670

My gpa is a 95/100

I was rejected from hunter which they don't know why either .. Anyone have an idea and if I transfer after my one semester .. Do u know what I'll need ? Will I need to improve my sat?

Your SAT reading is 490. Looks like you answered your own question. That low score coupled with a high GPA would tend to tell colleges that your school inflates grades. That means your grades have less weight on the decision as the scores are suspect.

Take the SAT or ACT again and work on your reading skills.

I didnt think that was issue because Baruch college is also very competitive, but they have accepted me. Now, @Torveaux , Im thinking of retaking the SAT and i only have 2 months before my classes start to retake it. Do you think I can really increase the critical reading score within that time margin i have?

Why don’t you just cool yer heels at Baruch for a year. Do your core courses, keep your grades up and then transfer after 30 credits. After you complete 30 credits your SAT scores are no longer an issue. All the CUNYs have direct admissions which makes it easy to transfer between CUNY colleges.

@moonwalker That is exactly what I think I’m going to do!! I don’t like the city college neighborhood so I will complete my 8 credits at Baruch. I already have 22 for doing A levels as an international … So sounds better  I can consider city college too though … That’s the confusion … Does Baruch really suck at pre med ?

OP-from the above comment, I’m guessing you’re an international then. Which makes the applicant pool more competitive. Did you ask for financial aid? That could’ve been it too. What are your EC’s?

as mentioned, your reading score. idk how your grades are but if your math and science grade are high and English are low, they may look at it as those are your grades keeping your GPA so high? I don’t kno. I was denied fro, stony brook but was accepted into a college with a 20% acceptance rate. colleges are strange w admission sometimes
