<p>Just wondering if its worth it to complain to the office of admissions, since i specifically applied to CIT but got a waitlist-rejection letter from the College Of Computer Science. Does anyone know if CS has a lower priority waitlist acceptance rate than CIT? if it does i guess i should call them...</p>
<p>well when i applied in december, i specifically marked CIT as my only choice on the common app supplement (i know because i went back to check today). April came along and i found out that i had been waitlisted. Since cmu was my top choice school, i accepted my spot on the priority waitlist. Being an overseas US national, i did not receive a call to notify me of my decision, but recieved an email which said exactly this</p>
<p>"Dear XXXXX:</p>
<p>Thank you for expressing an interest in remaining on our priority waiting
list for admission to Carnegie Mellon. A record number of candidates
elected our priority waiting list option this year. Unfortunately, we are
unable to remove your name from the priority waiting list for the School of
Computer Science at the present time. We will however continue to
keep your name on our regular waiting list. For planning purposes, you
should know that you will be among the first group to receive admission
should places become available later in May. We will contact you by June 1
with a final decision regarding your admission to Carnegie Mellon. In the
meantime however you should have already placed an enrollment deposit at
another college or university. Thank you very much for considering
Carnegie Mellon. We certainly appreciate your interest and wish you all
the best in your college plans.</p>
<p>Sincerely,
XXXX XXXXXX
Assistant Director of Admission </p>
<p>I found this: "Unfortunately, we are
unable to remove your name from the priority waiting list for the School of
Computer Science at the present time." to be a little strange as nowhere in my application did i mention that i was applying to SCS. In fact every single correspondence fax or email was to CIT.</p>
<p>I called them about fifteen minutes ago, the gentleman who answered seemed to be taken aback by my issue and told me to call back again after the weekend and that he would bring this up with the admissions committee.</p>
<p>I really hope i didnt get an unnecessary disadvantage in the admissions process because that would SUCK.</p>
<p>the same thing happened to me. got an email saying i was not accepted off the pwl for "the school of architecture" even though it should have been for tepper. sent an email back and the guy said it was just a mistake in the email and that the original call was correct...</p>
