ACCEPTED? Today? W-w-w-w-what?

where do u live?

GatorOwl where does your S live?

Northern NJ... how come? what about you?

Sometimes you have to weigh your options. I also think that they are trying to build up the Oxford College division of Emory.

However, the reality is that the main Campus of Emory is going to reject a lot of students, if you get into Oxford, the financial aid and all of the other perks that you would get from Emory still remain the same and in the end after finishing Oxford you will be guaranteed a spot into Emory and will graduate from Emory.

It would be worth considering if you need to hedge your bets and your odds would be better getting into Oxford than they would be getting in to Emory. remember that a ugly win is still a win and you were still accepted to Emory.

We live in Florida.

smartaleck-i'm in southern nj-just wanted to know about mail. i just visited emory and it's not my 1st choice, but i still don't want to be rejected.

Sybbie:

how does the transfer work to Emory main campus? Is it automatic, or does a kid have to reapply, or maintain a certain gpa? Do they really give out $$ to Oxford kids? Any idea on how many kids stay on at Emory, or take their AA and go elsewhere?

Dissbs, i think u were under the impression that I've already been accepted... that's not the case... my post of "ACCEPTED? Today? W-w-w-w-what?" was in response to GatorOwl's original post LOL (sorry for the confusion)

I thought they didn't send out admissions decisions until after just before April first. I live in Oregon so it be a while before I get my decision. Oh well, congrats on getting in GatorOwl.

Like last year's posts on this subject, it seems that Emory sends out acceptances in different batches, starting in early March.

people from oxford automatically continue on to emory. i dont think many, if really any, take those two years and go somewhere else. oxford students can get scholarships, not sure how they hold into emory, pretty sure they do if you keep up the gpa though.

Oxford Scholars Program
Each year Oxford College designates a number of its outstanding incoming freshmen as Oxford Scholars. Oxford Scholars include Robert W. Woodruff Scholars, Dean's Scholars, and Faculty Scholars, all of whom are selected on the basis of their grades, curriculum test scores, essays, extracurricular activities, and demonstrated interest. While enrolled at Oxford, these scholars participate in the Oxford Scholars Program.
The program involves required events such as dinner/lecture programs with faculty, seminar discussions on significant literary, historical, or artistic works, an end-of-the-year banquet, and other events of interest. The cultural component exposes scholars to a wide range of cultural events in the local area and in Atlanta, such as plays, concerts, and other cultural activities.

National Merit Scholarship

Student Courtesy Tuition Benefit

Eligible faculty and staff and their spouses or domestic partners may also receive a courtesy award for a portion of their tuition.
Outside Scholarships
Many agencies, employers, military and service organizations award funds to students. Receipt of these external awards may result in a reduction of financial aid from Oxford. Therefore, if you are a financial aid recipient, you must notify the Office of Financial Aid, in writing, of any scholarships you are awarded from sources other than Oxford. To the extent possible, we will adjust loan and work-study awards before reducing grant.
It is also your responsibility to notify the Office of Financial Aid of any special instructions or billing information regarding external scholarships. All checks for these awards must be sent to the Office of Financial Aid. The credit will be entered on your account when the check arrives. It is Oxford's policy to equally divide external scholarships between fall and spring semesters unless otherwise specified by the donor.

Funding for Study Abroad and Summer School
If you are planning to study abroad, you should meet with your financial aid advisor as far in advance as possible to determine your eligibility for financial aid and to make special arrangements for award disbursement. For summer school or summer study abroad, you must complete a separate summer application by March 1st.
