Rejected UCSB & UCR :C

I'm at a CC right now. Applied for Fall 2013.
Major: Biology / Biological Sciences
GPA: 3.55
EC during college: church / intern @ local clinic
Applied: UCLA, UCR, UCSB, UCSD, UCI, UCB

So, I didn't understand why I got rejected from UCR (cutoff is 3.0?) and I realized the main reason might be because I wouldn't be able to finish my Chem series by the end of Spring?
My first year, I was planning on starting General Chem 1A during Spring semester but during the end of Fall 2011 I found out that I had to take Intro to Chem since my HS Chemistry didn't count. But, I couldn't sign up for Intro to Chem until Fall 2012 because during Spring/Summer 2012 my registration date was one of the last days and by that time, the class was already filled. (To show how quickly classes fill up...I was planning on taking Calc at my original CC, but I couldn't register for it so I went to "crash" the class, but there was already a "crash waitlist" of 28 students. But luckily, a different CC had a few spots open). Anyways, I'm planning on taking General Chem 1B over the Summer (currently in 1A), but is there anything I can do for the other UC's?? Do I have a chance to appeal to the schools that I got rejected to??

Any advice would help...thanks!

I believe UCR wants Bio majors to finish gen chem by this Spring, and that its required.

We’re on the same boat gab, I got denied UCSB even w/ tag on the first day of decision release, and UCR on march 20. They changed their Bio series for my school!!! >:(!! I have a post on the 2nd page of UC transfer forums.

This seems like an APPEAL APPEAL APPEAL situation. You worked hard for those grades and you should take a shot and explain what you wrote here in your appeal letter. Fight for that spot. And before anyone rolls their eyes at me, all I have to say it doesn’t hurt to try. Good luck

You might be able to appeal and there’s no harm in trying, but chances are slim. You’re supposed to finish your coursework by the end of Spring for TAG. Even if you’re applying without TAG, you need to finish the required courses by the end of Spring.
