Rejected?

Hey everyone, I got a rejection letter in the mail today that ended with the following:
"Since your application was incomplete by the time all the spaces in your intended program had been filled, we are unable to offer you admission."
I applied to electrical engineering and feel like I have the stats to get in (2380 SAT, 3.8 GPA, etc.) and am curious as to whether or not this statement is truthful. Was the program really full by the time I applied or did I simply get rejected? Thanks!

i’m sure it was full b/c i got in with a 31 act and 4.08 gpa. so i’d say your stats were better but i applied early (end october)

Your rejected largely because the school have already offered admission where it is now full for that college. If you applied by Dec 15th you may would have got accepted or deferred, or even a rejection… not sure.

What did you send in late and when did you send it?

Thanks for all the responses. I didn’t mean to sound arrogant or indignant in my initial message, but it kind of came out that way. I submitted my application on time, but not by the priority filling period. U of I was the last application I finished, so I probably submitted it pretty late.

My question went to when you sent any required materials – application, transcript, and test scores. App was due by Jan 2, transcripts and test scores by Jan 12. The letter you got is something that usually goes only to those who did not meet one of those deadlines and thus you were placed for consideration of your application only after decisions are made on all those who applied on time and got things in on time.

hey everyone. So I read what lilgreet wrote and im kinda worried now. All of my materials were sent by the end of december except for my application fee. By the end january I found out that I had to mail a check because i chose the wrong option while submitting online app. I emailed the admissions office asking them to confirm that my app was complete. They emailed me back sayin that my app was ready for review. Would they such thing if the program was already full or will they let me know in their decision letter?
