If you apply to UC's, and get rejected, OR defer admission, and then re-apply the next year, does this hurt your chances of getting admitted?

I ask because I might not get admitted if I apply this year, but I will DEFINITELY be ready to apply Fall 2011 (for entrance 2012), so I wanted to know if I should even "Fool around" with applying this year.

I can understand why you would think that, and I used to wonder the same thing back when I wasn’t sure to apply for fall 2010. I asked counselors and alot of people on here, and they all say that it will NOT hurt your chances.

If you apply for fall 2011 and don’t get in, don’t sweat it. You can reapply next year with (hopefully) a higher GPA, more prereqs, if not all of them done, maybe even some saved up money from working a job, and odds are you will get in.

I would recommend applying, seeing what happens, and if you don’t get in where you want to, then stay another year.

I promise you, not getting in the first time will absolutely not hurt your chances…unless you wrote like a positively ignorant, conceited, insulting personal statement the first time…or something along those lines lol.
