I wanted to apply to NYU, but their financial aid is not nearly good enough for what I need. =(

@CJohnH My class has 40 students and it seems like everyone that has graduated in the last few years has gone to Mid Michigan Community College. There are no APs offered at my school. I’m the only one from my school that has ever applied to UChicago. Looks like we have the same high school situation.

HI GUYS.
Could not be more BUMMED OUT right now. My mom works at the office of admission so I got word early. I’m legacy so I am really letting my family down. Im ashamed to go home from school every night, my M hit me across the face (metaphorically of course) but I cant eat at the dinner table _fo real. I’m sitting here in Micro ECON AP and I cant help but cry. I can’t possibly imagine that I would get denied. I’m qualified. I have a 2340 on the SAT, didnt take the ACT and for the subject tests I got 750+ in all of them. I’m president of my school and the president of the Lakota Sioux Preservation Society in my County. Its not like I dont do any ECs. I’m captain of the Lax& track team but I havent gotten many offers. I’m no intel scholar or governors award winner like most of you on this thread but I still thought I had a chance. I just cant help but think that all the charity work, all the ECs, all the prep classes were worthless. I cant help but feel utterly worthless. I really hope you guys all get in because I dont want you to feel the same pain and emptiness I am in now. Ughh SORRY for RANT , I just needed to get that off my chest.

■■■■■ or just a drama queen? You be the judge.

I would believe that she got rejected if the grammar in her essays was as poor as the grammar in that post.

Seriously though, probably trolling. But if not, then runnercqr, I offer my genuine condolences, because that sucks. But look on the bright side: now you can move forward and start looking at other schools. Branch out, be your own person and find the education that is best for YOU. Clearly your parents believe in UChicago and what it offers, but that doesn’t mean that it’s the right place for you. A rejection does NOT in any way indicate that you are “not good enough,” it means that you are not a good fit for UChicago, which probably also means that the University of Chicago was also not the right place for you. Admissions looks for someone who would thrive in the environment their school offers, and a rejection indicates that you would thrive more, and get a better educational experience elsewhere. Good luck in finding the place that is best for you.

^they applied ED to “Haverford” (posted in their forum about it) so I doubt UChi was their dream school, if they even exist

Well then let me reiterate the above as a statement to everyone who is rejected and comes here for condolences: a rejection is in no way indicative of a lack of talent, skills, accomplishments, academic ability, or intelligence. All that it means is that the University of Chicago thinks that you should go somewhere else. As they say, they have more able and accomplished students that apply every year than they have room for, so they pick the ones whose personality they think would best fit with the school. They construct each class very carefully to ensure that each student has a place, and if you did not get accepted, it’s for the best. All a rejection means is that you will be happier, more successful, and better fulfilled at another institution. In other words, it’s their way of saying “it’s not you, it’s me.”

Sorry guys! That wasn’t me. That was someone else on my laptop (trolling)during school, since this is like the only unblocked site. Yeah, I did apply ED to Haverford. But one of my good friends is on the track team at UCHI and loves it. My Envi Sci teacher went there and UPENN, yet he says that UCHI was harder but he loved it. I hope all you get in or find the right school for you. Sorry once more for the insensitive and inane comment from my friend.
