Rejection?

--> Rather ****ing disheartening if you ask me.

Blame it on our touchy-feely self-esteem based society. Better you realize this lesson now than later in life.

And finally to Narcissa: okay thanks. i can't say i give a damn about the SAT. only enough for me to take them again on the 28th and im pretty sure i did a lot better this time.

I don't get it. If you don't give a damn, why'd you take them again? Why do you care if you did a lot better this time? The fact is you do care.

This is an amazing thread. Overall, I think I agree with Columbia2002 on all of his points. True, initially, it seemed kind of harsh. But perhaps, in a way, its not nearly as harsh as those uninformed high school teachers who fill students' heads with ridiculous fantasies by telling them that they are the best students ever and can go anywhere. It's obviously much more beneficial, in the long term, to slam into reality. Seriously, some of the people in here need to pull their heads out of the sand.

Of course, I'm not trying to bring anybody down and I don't think CO2 is either (well, maybe he is), but if you have a 3.0 G.P.A. and a 1500 SAT, you are not getting into an Ivy, PERIOD! And it's not because of bad luck.

I haven't gotten accepted to any prestigious universities yet and I think complaining about luck is an excuse for rejects. It just is.

Some people seem to have a skewed image of what college admissions officers are doing. A large amount of time is spent on each application and all characteristics of the applications are considered. When admissions really heat up, colleges have committees that meet, discuss, and vote on whether or not an application is accepted. It's not some grouchy guy sitting on a wooden stool with a red pen muttering, "Accepted...denied...accepted... denied."

i said i cared enough*

damnnnn

i wish this whole thread would delete itself

I'm sorry. I'll leave this thread alone.

Can you interview me, columbia2002? Or has the deadline past?

awww... and just when i thought this thread was really dead....
