Relatively easy scholarships to apply for

I’m planning to attend UT Austin next year, but I haven’t received any scholarships, merit or need based, from them.
I’m looking for scholarships that are relatively easy to apply for and where the competition is low? I don’t mind writing an essay or two per scholarship, but I just don’t have the time to write research papers and do projects like some require. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If there were easy scholarships to apply for, everyone would do it and then they wouldn’t be easy to get. Look in your own area, civic groups, employers, high school clubs.

Easy to apply for and low competition probably doesn’t exist. I’m sure you can understand why.

Ask your high schol GC for local scholarships, your bank, church, parents’employer might also offer scholarships.

How much will your parents pay each year?

You’re not going to find much/anything at this point for merit. If you find a local award, keep in mind it’s likely only for freshman year.

Did you make NMF?

Why aren’t you considering TAMU where you likely got a large merit. Did you?

The best and most money comes from your accepted university.

There really aren’t any easy scholarships worth any decent amount of money that don’t require boatloads of work.

FYI, my son won a yearly award as a National Merit Winner. He gets a total of $2500 per year or $1250 per semester. We’re grateful for it but, just imagine how hard he had to work just to get that money.

Thanks for all the responses!
@mom2collegekids I’ve decided to go to UT because of its business program. I know TAMU has a wonderful business program, but I think UT’s might give me a few more opportunities. I have not made NMF, so getting scholarships for that is out of the question. My parents want me to get scholarships, but I know they’ll pay full if they have to. However, I just don’t want to put that kind of pressure on my parents, so I’d rather get at least a few thousand in scholarships before having them pay for the rest of the costs.
@BelknapPoint I understand websites such as Cappex and others give you a list of scholarships comparing the amount of competition and the amount of time it takes to apply. But for most that I’ve seen, either I don’t qualify for it or the deadlines have already passed.
