relaxed superstars

I think a lot of you guys would benefit from reading how to be a high school superstar. LOLOLOL but really, that brings me to my question

do any of you guys have a specific heartfelt passion/commitment that you prioritize over 234242342 prospective extracurricular activities? I feel like most of the people here would rather have a heavy load of structured time commitments.

I spend all my time doing Academic Decathlon. It’s my only extracurricular now, but I think that spending up to 30 hours a week on it should be enough for a college, and I honestly don’t want to do anything else.

I am very passionate about music. Listening to it, going to concerts, playing it, etc. However, it is not one of my main ECs, other than playing/teaching piano. It’s just something I do for myself. I can’t remember the last time I fell asleep without listening to music.

I wouldn’t say I prioritize it * over * my 36258469 ECs, it’s just something I do alongside them. I hope to get more involved in music groups in college.

As far as the book, I haven’t read it but know the gist of it and follow it’s general principles. I am very involved in multiple facets of science. I love science, it just so happens that I love music a bit more, but not the sort of music that can feasibly function as a career (other than in about .001% of cases).

I do art and focus on it more than anything but that book still made me nervous xD Winning art awards just seems like itd fall under his category of “explainable” achievements

Nothing! I havent found anything yet ): , the only EC I’ve found Im semi interested in is programming, and theres nothing at my school that like, programming games, yay! Im planning on starting tennis this year (never really played but I’m gonna go to workouts and then try out). Never played an instrument, never really acted, not much of an artist. ): I dont know… i want to find a club im really passionate about, and will look good on my college app… I might get involved in the musical/play next year (okay, i lied, I have been in a play before, and have been in honors chorus) but I really dont know how good i am… :\ Its frustrating note having something your passionate about…

I know this girl who stretched herself out and decided to join a ton of clubs and become president for every club she joined. She would run around between meetings that were on the same day and would end up not showing up to some and she would always be tired because she tried to keep up her grades. In the end, she only applied to one school and was rejected so, she had to apply to one with rolling admission that isn’t that great. Our valedictorian who got into all of his schools only did rugby, football, and different Honor Societies and they were usually at different times. That might say something!

I personally only have 2 activities that I really do and hopefully that will bump up to 3 or 4 next year. I do film and softball, and I want to start a Japanese Club for my senior project and hopefully be in the musical. Not likely that the musical will happen. I’ve seen people not get home until 9 PM and nod off to sleep during class. Plus you miss about 3 days of class for it and don’t get the weekend to make it up because of weekend shows. Wayyy to much stress. :P

Golf if my big thing (specifically coaching), I have many other extracurriculars, but I will drop almost any of them for golf if there is a clash in my schedule.
