Religion in America

Sure there might be a lot of Christians in gov’t, but correlation does not imply causation.

^^Not completely secular, I wouldn’t say…

This thread is stupid, and your posts are hilariously wrong.

Nevertheless:

Fine. But you say that as if it’s obvious it’s a bad thing. For a religious person, a country more aligned with his personal beliefs would probably be a good thing. Just like such a country aligned with yours is obviously, from your posts, a good thing for you.

Argumentum ad historiam? ROFL.

That’s right. That doesn’t make it less real or less a part of the political process, at least in America.

Contradictory statement is contradictory. You say they are individuals yet immediately claim that they are not individuals. Furthermore, who are YOU to determine how other people ACTING IN THEIR OWN AGENCY identify themselves? Or would you prefer a system where YOU get to determine what everyone uses to identify themselves? Oh, yes, THAT would be the epitome of a society embracing individualism.

Whatever. I think religion is stupid and if there is a god I’d rather burn in hell than be up there with him. I’ve seen people commit suicide, I saw my dad SHOT HIMSELF IN THE HEAD! How can a 5 year old do when she saw her own father take his own life away. I think people think of God too highly. I think religion is worst thing that has ever happened in this world. F*** god, f*** religion, and the people who created it.

Or, hell even seeing my mom become depressed and become sick. I had to sleep on the floor and live in a studio apartment for a year! So I absolutely hate religion with a passion. I never was religious and never will.

I think it’s time to close this thread. It will not end well.

Ok, so you’ve basically told us your life problems and blame it on religion. Way to make yourself less credible. Sad story, but thats your opinion, and you haven’t supported it with facts, even though the story is irrelevant to the topic at hand.

It would be the greatest day ever, the day when religion dies. Unfortunately that day will never come. I wish it would.

Why should religion die? Religion has a role in this world, and because of the selfish opinions of one it should die?

My opinion it should. But I know that would never happen.

OP is not going to provide meaningful debate on this issue. It’s time to agree to disagree.

Agreed to end this debate. All points have been made, all backs have been patted, and all expletives have been distributed. Nothing more productive will be accomplished here.

Bad ■■■■■ is bad.

Maybe blame your own problems on something other than an institution that had nothing to do with them.

“I was bullied at school – Putin is to blame! Down with Russia!”

People like you create the world’s problems. Place blame where it lies – your father’s suicide was not caused by religion. Get over yourself and get a reality check. And have fun not functioning in the real world.

/thread

^ Put excellently. I agree.

I still have to say, OP, you never answered my question. * Why? * If you fail to give me a meaningful answer, then I’m just going to agree with the 2 above me.

This is an awful thread devoid of meaningful, logical representation from the side launching most of the criticisms. Hopefully, it dies out completely before some of the more prolix members on this website log back in. :)

now time for some thread hijacking

So, who here like cheese? I do =]

Cheese is abominable.

I hate cheese. Except cream cheese, which I will eat in exactly 28+1:30=29:30 minutes on a cinnamon raisin bagel.

^^Absolutely false. Cheese, especially pepper jack cheese, is awesome.

With crackers, that is.
