thankyou…i’ll do that

Is it true Rens finalists will be notified of their award within a week of the interviews (I believe WOWM said this)? Kind of nervous lol.

Hey StandfordAspire - I must admit it is odd referring to you as StandfordAspire now that we have met - Because the Renaissance team has to do some phone/skype interviews this week with some of our international Renaissance finalists, letters are not likely to go out until next week at the earliest.

Haha yeah the username is weird too. Thank you for letting me know! I will inform the other Ren nominees as well.

so i had my phone interview a few days ago…cant wait to hear back…good luck to the other Ren nominees!

Good luck internationalapp! I hope it went well, and I imagine it did.

@MConklin

Would it be possible to post here when the final decisions on the Renaissance Scholars have been made (so we know when to watch our mailboxes)?

Also, will all the nominees receive letters, or just the ones who won the scholarship?

Thanks,
Nervous Nellie

Everyone will receive a letter. I just found out that the letters are scheduled to go out on Thursday, so you should have them on Friday or Saturday, Monday at the latest.

Thank you MConklin. Im pretty confident it did…although the competition seems extremely tough… nothing left but to hope for the best now.

My daughter had a fantastic time at the interview event. I will try not to pounce on the mailman Monday. Good luck to all the nominees.

Will you also notify by email? Thank you.

Did the Renaissance letters get mailed yet?

This is Jon Burdick, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, posting (just so I’m clear). I returned today from a big retreat (still underway) in which UR long-term alumni, friends and leaders are planning exciting new developments in Rochester’s near future. So…I was at least a day late signing the letters. And a few of them had errors. Bottom line, I think most of our Renaissance Scholar candidates will learn our final decision next week. I’m sorry for the delay.

I’m also sorry if the news isn’t the best. As always, we can only choose the top 1% of our admits for this opportunity. The choosing was extremely difficult, and let me again congratulate all the candidates. If you want to write me privately with questions, that’s deanafa@rochester.edu. Ask me anything except “did I get it?” – Jon

Hi, my son is a finalist for the Renaissance Global Scholarship and he is waiting for the decision letters to be sent. We are from Manila, Philippines, and he is very excited about being given the chance to study in the US. He was interviewed over the phone and said it went well. Keeping our fingers crossed!

Our letter came today. She didn’t get the Renaissance Scholarship, but she was awarded the Rush Rhees scholarship, renewable for all four years. Still very excited.

RenoMom - Sorry to hear that! Anyway congrats on Rush Rhees, how much is the amount associated with Rush Rhees?

Rush Rhees is $20,000/year.

We still have not received our decision letter regarding the Rens Scholarship. I’m thinking that they only send via FedEx those that got accepted and via normal mail those that did not. If that is the case, then maybe my son did not get it since we have not gotten anything yet.

FedEx is sent to those who live out of the country (that I know of). I’m from Oregon and I got my Ren Scholar notification through regular mail.

We live in the Philippines. My son was sent through email a copy of his letter, since they said he may not receive the mailed one right away. He was not awarded the Rens scholarship but was given a half tuition award - Genesee. Although, we are happy about that, its not enough for us to be able to send him. He was really looking forward to attending Rochester and was hoping to receive the full tuition scholarship. We are looking at ways to raise additional funds but options are limited for international students.
